Early Childhood Classes (First Art and Somebody & Me) are based on literature, techniques, vocabulary building, sharing and learning to follow directions. Art experiences advance children’s development, fosters an early appreciation of the arts and provides an opportunities for bonding between the child and caregiver, parents, grandparents, as well as interaction with other adults and children.
On My Own Classes are based on literature, techniques, vocabulary building, artists, history, sharing and learning to follow directions. In this class we provide opportunities for independence and exploring. We do provide themes and give choices of materials. Young students will learn colors, layers, forms of animals, buildings, nature, people and daily-life objects around us through drawing, painting and sculpture. Students get to practice their motor skills and make creative projects. Lesson plans include free style and more structured projects depending on students’ comfort levels. This class is excellent for the child who is showing independence and ready to make art decisions.
Mixed Media we work with all art materials–clay, wood, wire, collage items, drawing, painting and fabric. Our lessons are based on famous artists, art history or children’s literature.
Drawing & Painting we learn about different drawing and painting techniques. We learn to draw and paint still life settings, animals, portraits and landscapes. We learn about color, perspective, texture and we use pencils, markers, paint, pens, ink, oil pastels, chalk pastels and charcoal.
